Bernardsville, NJ: About 200 guests attended “Together We Can,’’ an elegant gala at Bernardsville Mountain home of Sam and Anna Maddali on Saturday evening, May 14.

The event was a fund-raiser to help support the programs and services of Community in Crisis (CiC), a local nonprofit that provides prevention education on substance misuse, and a community of support through sober social programs for those in and seeking recovery from addiction.

Honored guests for the evening were Far Hills residents Lois and Neil Gagnon. The Gagnon Family Foundation was one of CiC’s first funders, helping it build infrastructure, hire staff and implement programs.

The Fournier Family Foundation, the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, the Far Hills Race Meeting Association and the Margaret A. Darrin Charitable Trust were also thanked for their consistent support. CiC volunteers and staff were also recognized.

Earlier this year, CiC celebrated its move to a new, permanent home at 9 Church St. in Bernardsville.

Speakers included Jody D’Agostini of Basking Ridge, the founder and chair of the CiC Board of Ddirectors, who highlighted its mission.

“We cannot change the world, but we can change the world where we live one day at a time and one life at a time,’’ she said. “We are here to stay and will continue to address and respond to the needs of our community. We humbly and gratefully appreciate your support and friendship.’’

Guests were greeted by members of The Guard Pipes and Drums of Basking Ridge, and received gift bags with hand-made items created by student volunteers. Throughout the evening guests dined on gourmet food and beverages.
