Bedminster, NJ August 27, 2024: In observance of September as National Recovery Month, The Center for Contemporary Art (The Center) is pleased to announce the exhibition, “The Art of Recovery: Connecting Through Transformative Creativity,” presented by Community in Connection, the recovery support division of Community in Crisis (CiC), on view September 6-27.

Cyndi Wish, Executive Director for The Center, shares “The Center believes in the power of the arts as a vehicle for collective joy. We are thrilled to partner with CiC to celebrate creativity, connection, and recovery in our community, and grateful to Ken and all of the CiC artists for sharing their work in our gallery.”

Victoria VasquezOne of CiC’s guiding principles is to empower individuals on their recovery journey by leveraging the strength of lived experience, embracing holistic and artistic modalities, and supporting multiple pathways of recovery. They are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, compassionate community where every person’s unique path is honored and celebrated.

CiC’s programs include mutual support meetings representing multiple pathways of recovery, holistic natural recovery programs, harm reduction training and supplies, recovery-friendly activities, education, and navigation to resources supporting home, health, purpose, and community. CiC offers a variety of workshops for its participants, including drawing and ceramics classes at The Center.

Ken Musgrove, Director of Recovery Support for CiC explains, “Our partnership with The Center for Contemporary Art has afforded our participants a space for dignified, creative expression helping to reduce the stigma surrounding recovery. The Center is an affirming place to be our authentic selves while tapping into our creativity.”

Join The Center for Contemporary Art and Community in Connection at the opening reception on Friday, September 6 from 6-8pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Celebrate the work of eighteen artists and their work in a variety of media including collage, mixed media, sculpture, painting, photography, and more.
