A community action plan involving community agencies, organizations, physicians, schools, churches and parent coalitions are united to fight this scourge on our youth and adolescents, was designed by Community in Crisis based on the evidence-based NJ Governor’s 2014 Report, “Confronting New Jersey’s NEW Drug Problem: A Strategic Action Plan to Address a Burgeoning Heroin/Opiate Epidemic Among Adolescents and Young Adults.” Community in Crisis used this report as its guiding force and the basis of its multi-faceted chart of work.

The report’s findings, intended to address the prescription drug and heroin/opiate epidemic among adolescents in hopes of reducing the number of fatal overdoses, was presented at a town hall meeting in June 2014 at the Bernards High School Performing Arts Center, NJ.
