Community in Crisis presents Chefs Unite!: A Culinary Tasting Experience for a Cause

Community support is a core value for The Bernards Inn. That’s why Bernardsville’s award-winning restaurant and boutique hotel is teaming up with Community in Crisis, (CIC) a local nonprofit organization fighting the national opioid epidemic, to present Chefs Unite!: A Culinary Tasting Experience for a Cause on Sunday, March 18th, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m at The Bernards Inn. With New Jersey’s top culinary talents coming together for a single cause, Chefs Unite! promises to be the most delectable event of the season.

Chefs Unite! is becoming Community in Crisis’ largest fundraiser of the year and is essential for sustaining their mission. The event features tasting stations for each participating chef at which guests will have the opportunity to not only taste each culinary artist’s creations, but to meet and interact with some of the most renowned chefs of New Jersey and beyond. Participating chefs include: Todd Mark Miller (The Bernards Inn), Ken Trickilo (The Liberty House), Christopher Albrecht (The Ryland Inn), Geoff Mockbee (Stonehouse at Stirling Ridge), David Drake (Rudolpho’s), A J Cappella (2017 Garden State Culinary Award Winner: Rising Star), and many more. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards substance abuse disorder prevention and education in the towns and cities we all share.

“By partnering with Community in Crisis, we are supporting the New Jersey community in tackling this nationwide epidemic that affects so many of our family, friends and neighbors” said General Manager Joshua Barbee of The Bernards Inn. “It is a tremendous cause and we look forward to working with our friends in the Garden State culinary community to make a difference for those in need.”

Clodette Sabatelle, CIC Board Secretary and Chair, Community Outreach, added, “We were so thrilled when the Bernards Inn approached us and offered to host this event to support our work. Funding is critical to our mission to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription pills and the prevalence of heroin; this epidemic has ravaged communities, tearing families apart and taking the lives of our younger generations. Furthermore, having the support of a prestigious establishment sends a loud and clear message to our communities that it’s time to bring this disease out of the shadows and get people the help they need.”

Programs and events are held at the Community Hub in Bernardsville which has been funded, in part, by the Horizon Foundation of New Jersey.
