What it is: Art Meditation
Art meditation is a form of creative expression that is based on the principles of meditation and mindfulness. The goals of art meditation include letting go of preconceived ideas about how the art product is supposed to look, or how one might want it to look, as well as the ability to accept the idea that art making of any kind, regardless of the final product is valuable. Art meditation can be a great complement to any existing meditation or mindfulness practice and may become a way to expand upon these.
What we will do:
Meditation on Support. Using what you have around you, this meditation focuses on creating an environment of support that will allow you to feel cared for, secure, and connected. You will need paper, any art supply of choice and something with a straight edge. We will begin with a guided meditation that will lead into art making that will become a meditative experience. As a group we will practice mindful listening as attendees share the outcome of their experience by looking at the artwork that was made.
