Community in Crisis depends on the time and talent of wonderful volunteers to support them on a project by project basis or on an ongoing basis.
Skillsets and interests are matched with the volunteer work involved. All volunteer hours can count towards community service. Volunteers from middle school and up are welcome to apply to volunteer with Community in Crisis by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We are always thrilled to hear from you!
Here is an overview of some of the volunteer opportunities available:
Drug Drop Off Event
Adults to greet those dropping off medications at drive-through drug drop off at Bernards Township Police Dept. Transfer medications from cars to box inside station Twice per year.
1-2 volunteers per shift – 10am to 12pm and/or 12pm to 2pm.
Drug Drop Off Event
Teens to hold up signs directing traffic to drive-through drug drop off at Bernards Twp Police Station.
2 volunteers per shift – 10am to 12pm and/or 12pm to 2pm.
Adults and teens to staff information tables at various community events and, occasionally, houses of worship.
Adults and teens to staff Community in Crisis information table at Bernards Township Charter Day one Saturday in May each year.
Up to 10 volunteers in total (2 per shift), 1 to 2 hour shifts between 11 and 4.
Scout Project Leadership
Using existing educational materials, work with scout leadership to implement a badge program promoting respect for medications. The Community in Crisis leader will coordinate with scout leadership to present the idea to troop leaders, train them to deliver the program.
Planning beginning now for fall launch 1-2 volunteers. Estimated 10 hours.
Youth Leadership Council, Adult Leader
Adult to help lead Community in Crisis high school Youth Leadership Council. Work with small group of high school students to play an advisory role in the design and implementation of CiC youth anti-substance abuse initiatives.
Now, ongoing 1-2 volunteers 2-3 hours for initial organization. Four to six meetings per year.
Sports League Leadership
Coordinate a sober sports program. Determine sports, help book fields, acquire equipment as needed, work with CiC to publicize the games, and line up a person to be responsible for set up and clean up on the day of events.
Launch a 6 to 8 week program for one sport, times and dates TBD. 1-2 volunteers 3 hours for initial organization, with 1-2 hours per week during the series.
Acoustic Coffee House Music Evenings
Help with logistics and sign-ins. One Saturday evening per month from 6:00 to 10:30 PM.
